Planning in advance for kids includes many things. Buy some toys and travel games to keep the kids occupied. It will prevent the kids from getting bored on a long journey. You should consider getting three or four of these games. Since children tend to get bored easily, you will always have something new to keep them in check. Bring plenty of their favorite CDs and books. Make them comfortable by keeping pillows and blankets in the car.
Plan regular breaks during the journey to give everyone a chance to relax. Look for interesting sights on the way. If your route has an exciting place on the way, like an amusement park, try to spend some time there. It offers kids something to look forward to, and breaks the monotony of the journey. If you are unable to plan a stop, make sure that your destination has something for the kids. The idea of a vacation is for the whole family to have fun. If the kids are fidgety and restless, it will spoil the fun for everyone.
Seating arrangements in your car can also make a difference. Try to keep the children separated from each other. Instead, seat children with adults. This will discourage any quarrels and fistfights between them. Seat children at the window so that they have something to keep themselves amused.
