One of the mythical beliefs is that Horus, the ancient sky god whose eyes were the sun and the moon, and Set, the Satan, were involved in a fierce battle. During this battle, Horus lost one his eyes. However, the lost eye was magically restored once in every month. This theory was probably referring to the waxing and waning of the moon. There are several other depictions associated with the Eye and some call it is evil eye.
Even today, several people use the Eye as a symbol to ward off evil at their doors. It could mean any negative energy like jealousy or ill will.
Another mythical belief believes that Horus gifted his eye to Osiris, the goddess who guarded the dead, so that she would allow him to rule the netherworld.
