Weather Patterns And Climate Change South Africa
The changing weather patterns of South Africa have become a cause for concern for the locals and the global warming experts. This time the summer came in late and it was very hot during the summer. |
South Africa’s economy has been booming with the stepped up gold production and there has been tremendous growth in infrastructure. Also, there has been an apparent industrial growth leading to increased carbon emissions overall.
Due to the severe delay in the seasonal changes and weather patterns that have become extremely unreliable, the maize crops did not grow. Maize is the main agriculture produce in South Africa and not receiving good crop cycles has led to the loss of billions of dollars.
However, it is not only South Africa that has suffered due to the hanging weather patterns but also other countries in Africa. The ecological balance of Africa is extremely delicate and it is one of the oldest ecosystems of the world that a man could relate to. Any small changes in the environment can disrupt the ecological balance of Africa in a big way.
Africa is already stricken with poverty and the rapidly changing climate and the failing crops are adding to their woes. However, South Africa, realizing the potential harm it has caused through carbon emissions, has now stepped in to protect the environment by buying carbon credits and using renewable energies. Also, tourists are being educated to use paper bags and reduce the usage of plastic bags. In addition, people are being requested to use public transport rather than private cabs and cars.
