Places To Visit In Indonesia
Termed as the Sleeping Giant of Asia, Indonesia consists of more than 17,508 islands out of which only 6,000 remain inhabited. It is the fourth most populated country in the world with the majority of its people being Muslims. The largest number of Muslims around the world is found in Indonesia. - Bali: Having the most pleasant climate all year around, tourists easily adapt themselves to the climate since its neither too hot not cold. The population in Bali is estimated at 4 million and the people there are friendly, courteous and fun-loving. Bali is covered with beaches, here the nights are magical and the beaches are aglow with music, dances, parties and fun-filled activities.
- The Istiqlal Mosque: Meaning 'Freedom' and built in the year 1975, this is the largest mosque one can find in the whole of Southeast Asia. The mosque is huge so much so it has room for more than 120,000 people who visit there. Visitors are at their maximum during the holiest days of the year for Idul Firti and Idul Adha and are treated to the most magnificent views from the top floor. Not just being limited to religious accommodations; the mosque has other facilities for cultural and social activities like seminars, conferences, lectures, shopping facilities, variety of programs for women, youngsters and children.
- Prambanan Temple: Also called as Roro Jongarang by the locals, it is the largest temple in Southeast Asia and is dedicated to three Hindu deities -- Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. There are 224 temples apart from the three shrines for the deities and visitors are awed by the view of the sunrise from behind the main temple which is the most spectacular and one of the charms of the temple.
- Sulawesi: earlier called Celebes and also called Orchid Island, this place is famous for all the artistic work like pottery, weaving and dancing also the most famous of diving areas is found here.
- Lake Toba: famous for its volcanic nature, this lake is famous for its smaller lake that is located within the large one.
