- The Luang Prabang: Being the oldest capital city of the kingdom of Lan Xang it is rich in cultural heritage and set up with monasteries, monuments and the beauty of nature abounds here. The place is inhabited by about 16,000 people, has old French houses and a few temples of interest. The UNESCO has listed the Luang Prabang as one of the World Heritage Site.
- Vientiane: This is the smallest capital of Southeast Asia and has 540,000 inhabitants.
