Cannes Beach
The beaches of Cannes are world famous. Cannes has a long coast line and the most beautiful bays of the Mediterranean Sea. Several beaches of Cannes are private and some resorts also own beaches. There are many luxury hotels on these beaches. |
The Plage de la Croisette is a beach that is nestled between the Vieux Port and the Port Canto. You have decks and umbrella chairs to enjoy the sun and sand. This is a semi private beach so you may be charged some times.
Cannes has several municipal beaches as well. However, they can get crowded in the summer.
There are quite a few islands surrounding Cannes.
If you prefer a quieter beach, try some of the nearby islands. The Iles de Lerins is a small archipelago island and is just off the town limits of Cannes. It has a few hotels and also plenty of beaches. These places do not get crowded all that much.
The Isle Sainte Marguerite is a big island. It is covered with pine trees and eucalyptus. You can take ferry boats to get here and the island is also filled with discos, pubs and night life. Most of the events take place on the beaches. It has a good network of cafes, and also a little fort that you could explore. The fort was used as a prison cell.
If you need to get to any of the islands of Cannes, you can take a ferry boat and in within 15 minutes you reach the island.
