Where Is The Eiffel Tower Located ?
The symbol of Paris, the Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, which is the capital of France. It is perhaps the most recognized structure in the world and the moment one sees an image of it, pictures of France and romantic Paris come to mind. What many people do not know is that the Tower was made as the entrance to the World Fair in 1889 and was not very welcomed by the people of Paris, as they thought it was an eyesore. Eiffel Tower is situated towards the north western part of Parc du Champ de Mars. This is a park that is rectangular in shape and it also helps to separate the Tower from the French military academy that was built some time in the middle of the 1700s. Furthermore, the Tower is situated to many important and prominent building. Perhaps the most important buildings are the French National Assembly and Prime Minister's residence, where the current prime minister of France, Nicholas Sarkozy lives.
Paris has always been an important city even during historical times. There is evidence to show that people were living in this area long before Jesus Christ was born. In 52 BC, the Romans took control of the city, but five hundred years later, the city was mainly occupied by locals. It has always been the seat of administration and hence, it should not come as a surprise when the World Fair to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution was held there. To mark this celebration, Gustave Eiffel, an architect, designed and constructed the Eiffel Tower. The building of the Tower started in the year 1887. Gustave had initially planned to construct this Tower in Barcelona in Spain. However, the city found the design too elaborate and rejected it. As a result, Gustave took his design to Paris and built it there after submitting a proposal for it to the planners of the World Fair.
Today, it is impossible to image Paris without Eiffel Tower or vice versa. Both are synonymous with one another. Paris gets hordes visitors from around the world who especially come to see this magnificent iron structure made up of 18,000 pieces of puddle iron joined together by seven million rivets. Drinking champagne for breakfast in one of the several restaurants on the first and second levels of the Tower is a dream of many people who come to see the Eiffel Tower.

If a person mentions the city of Paris, immediately visions of the Eiffel Tower come to mind. It goes without saying that the tower has become synonymous with Paris all over the world. Ironically, this iron structure was ridiculed by the people when it was inaugurated in the year 1889. They did not think it was a artistic structure and the designer and builder of the tower drew a lot of flak and criticism from people. This brings us to the next question, who built the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
