Romania And Tourism

Of late, Romania has become quite a hub for tourism. This is primarily due to its natural beauty, rich history and vibrant culture. In addition, the country can be easily accessed by plane, train, ship or train, making it very convenient for visitors to come from other parts of Europe. In addition, the country is just one hour away by plane from major European cities like Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Athens, Istanbul, Zagreb and Krakow.

The fact that Romanians are so hospitable and friendly is bound to make any holiday memorable and filled with warmth. And, the cuisine is just too delicious to resist with its meatballs, meat wrapped in cabbage leaves and pork stew with garlic and onions.

The main tourist hubs in the country are Bucharest, the capital, Black Sea coast, the Danube Delta, the Carpathian Mountains, Poiana Brasov, Bukovina, Transylvania, Northern Oltenia, Maramures and Prahova Valley. Bukovina has many monasteries and churches with beautiful frescoes dating back to the 16th century. In fact, Bukovina is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Some other places of tourists interests are the small towns and spas that are spread all over Romania. The former capital of Moldavia, Iasi; Cluj-Napoca, the main town in Transylvania; Timisoara, a multi-ethnic town in Banat; Targoviste, the town of the Romanian royalty in Walachia; Brasov; Sibiu and Sighisoara.

One cannot forget the most beautiful alpine relief in Romania in the Fagaras Massif or the nature's stunning presence in the Retezat National Park in the southern part of the Carpathian Mountains. Both these places are just amazing and stunning. Of course, neither can we forget the legend of Dracula which lives on in Transylvania and is enthusiastically promoted by the Romanian tourism department. However, do expect Transylvania to be a dull and dreary place. It is name should be sufficient to inform that it is beautiful and green with its lush green forests and meadows high in Carpathians.

Tourism in Romania has developed quite substantially after the fall of the Iron Curtain. There are sufficient hotels are available throughout the country offering world class facilities. Each year over 20 million tourists come to Romania to partake in its beauty, history and culture.
