Terrorist acts occur unpredictably and, and can turn your vacation into a nightmare. The best protection is to avoid travel to unsafe areas where there is a high risk of terrorist attacks or kidnapping. The following tips can help you avoid becoming a target of terrorist attacks, or at least cope with them. If you are traveling to an area which is a high-risk zone for terrorist acts, follow some simple precautions. Schedule direct flights if possible, and avoid stops in high-risk airports or areas. Try to minimize the time spent in the public area of an airport. Keep an eye out for suspicious abandoned packages or briefcases. Report them to airport security and leave the area promptly. Avoid obvious terrorist targets such as places where Westerners are known to congregate. Be careful about discussing any travel plans with strangers. Also avoid predictable routes of travel.
