Starting in 640 AD, this region was dominated by various Muslim dynasties for another 1500 years. This included the Ottoman Empire’s domination from the 16th Century to 19th century. The domination of various countries over the Gaza strip continued even in the 20th century with the British Empire conquering it during the First World War.
The control of British Empire over the Gaza strip ended when the British Mandate, which gave it the legal power to administrate, ended. The turmoil continued further as the Gaza strip came under the control of Egyptian and then the Israelis. The tumult has continues in the 21st century as well.
