Here are some people in Iran, who dedicated their lives to the country excelling in various fields.
Jahangir Razmi is a well known Iranian author and photographer, who received the Pulitzer Prize in 1980 in the category of photography for spot news. Firing Squad in Iran is the photograph that won his the prize. It was clicked in August 1979, and was anonymously published in every part of the world. In the 90 year history of Pulitzer Prize, this photograph was the only nameless winner as Razmi was unknown to the world till 2006.
Arash Miresmaili has won gold medals in the world judo championships held at Munich, Germany in 2001 and Osaka, Japan in 2003 respectively. He also got bronze medal when the championship was held in Cairo, Egypt in 2005 and at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 2007. He is now retired and coaching the Iranian national judo team.
Dr Farrokhroo Pārsā dedicated all his life to Iran. She was a physician, parliamentarian, and educator. She also worked as the minister of education under the pre-Islamic Revolution government. She was the first ever woman to hold the position of a cabinet minister in the Iranian government. She was also the first woman who was put to death just because she educated her own people.
Mohammad-Taqi Bahar is a poet, politician, journalist, professor of literature and historian. He is deemed to be Iran’s greatest twentieth century poet. The poems penned by him were known for their traditionalism and nationalism tones.
