Life For Women In Iran

Women in Iran still do not have equal rights. But Iran is one of the nations in the Middle East where women are educated. Although there are curbs on activities that women can do, Iran still allows women to play a significant role in the society.

However, women in Iran have to follow the Islamic law. This means that any time they are stepping out of home, they have to wear the hijab, which is a head cover worn by women and young girls in accordance with the rules of Islam. However, there are some women in Iran, who believe that wearing a hijab is nothing by a social act that they must conform to. However, the Islamic head scarf is not used in Iran to cover the entire face of the women. The women can show their faces in public. The scarf just covers their head.

According to female activist in the country, wearing a hijab is least of the problems that women have to face in the country. They believe there are bigger issues that need to be resolved.

As per the new constitution that was passed in 1979 after the Islamic Revolution, women in Iran do not have equal rights. The country follows the Sharia law very strictly. This is the moral code taken from the Holy Koran.

Nonetheless, it is quite common in Iran to see taxi drivers who are women. Also, unlike the strict Sharia law followed in Saudi Arabia, the women of Iran are alloweda university education. In fact, it is estimated that nearly 65 percent of students in the different universities in the country are women. Also, Iranian women have the liberty to hold a public office.

Many people across the world will be surprised to learn that Iran has a professionally run fire company that is run just by women. This is the only company in the entire Middle East run by women.

So, from a cultural point of view, life for women in Iran is not as bad as people would like to believe.
