What Is The Temperature In Iraq ?

Temperature in Iraq varies greatly. In summers, mainly in the months of July and August, the temperature is known to be as high as forty eight degrees Celsius.

In January, which is the peak winter month, temperature can go below zero, freezing everything in the vicinity. Iraq also experiences rainfall in abundance in the mountainous reaches, but the entire country experiences rainfall from December to the end of April.

The summer season, when the temperatures are soaring, the country experiences two types of winds. The Sharqi blows from April to the beginning of July. This wind is dry and carries a lot of dust particles. Sometimes, it can attain a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. This wind blows again from end of September till the end of November. The second type of wind in Iraq is known as Shamal. This wind blows over the country from the middle of June to the middle of September. While this wind is dry and causes the surface to become extremely hot, it is also instrumental in cooling down the place.

So, it can be said that the temperature in Iraq varies so widely that it gives the country four different seasons. The summers are known to be extremely hot and dry. The winters are bitterly cold. But the spring and fall seasons are known to be pleasant and cool. The country, although located on the shores of the Persian Gulf, is not affected by the Gulf. The only difference one notices is the level of humidity. In the regions close to the Persian Gulf, humidity is much higher compared to the rest of the country.
