Timeline History Of Israel

As the history of Israel dates back to 4000 B.C, and getting to know the historical timeline of Israel will give you bird's eye view on how rich and diverse the nation is. In fact, its history has shaped Israel, and the current events that are occurring in the region.


Here is the historical timeline of Israel:

Some where between 1800 BC and 1500 BC, Abraham used to live in this region. He is a highly revered figure in the country as he is considered to be the father ofJews.

In 63 BC, the region was taken over by the invading Roman army.

Between 66 AD and 70 AD, the Jewish people starting rebelling against the Romans.

During 132 AD and 135 AD, the Jewish people were forced out of their land by the Romans, and the region was renamed as Palestine.

In the 600s, the region came under the dominion of the Arabs.

Between 1000 BC and 1200 BC, the Christians from Europe started the Crusades in the region in order to make it their own. They especially wanted Jerusalem.

In the 1800s, the Jewish people started to work toward establishing their state within Palestine.

The 1900s were marked with conflicts between the Jews and the Arabs.

In 1914, World War I starts, and by 1917, the Balfour Declaration is adopted. The British government immediately supports the establishment of Israel within Palestine.

In 1939, World War II breaks out, and during the 6 years of the war more than six million Jews in Europe were killed in the Holocaust by the Nazis.

In 1947, the UN divides the region into two parts. One part goes to the Arabs, while the other forms the Jewish state.

On May 17, 1948, the state of Israel is formally established.

In 1949, Israel takes over nearly half of the Arab region established by the UN.

In 1950, the state of Israel passes the Law of Return, which allows the return of any Jew into Israel. However, there were some restrictions on who could return.

In 1967, Israel goes ahead and takes over Gaza Strip and West Bank. This conflict is still ongoing even in the current time.
