Climate In Lebanon
Climate in Lebanon depends upon the season. In summers, the temperature is very high, while in the winter season, the temperature is known to be cold and also the country experiences rainfall. |
In between the two seasons, is autumn where there is a transition with the temperatures falling. After winter, the country experiences a little bit of rain, and then it welcomes the spring.
However, the nature of the climate in Lebanon varies from one region to another. In summers, day time temperature can touch the level of 38 to 40 degrees centigrade, while in the night the temperature declines to 14 to16 degrees centigrade. Thus, the afternoons and early evenings are comparatively hot, but a wind coming in from the east breaks the intensity of heat. In the night, the wind blows in the opposite direction.
In the winter season, the country experiences a lot of rain. It is tough to forecast the level of the rainfall because it depends on the number of days the rain continues for. The number changes every year. At the time of winter, little fall of snow can be seen in the southern most region like Beirut. A dry wind, full of dust and sand, starts from the deserts of Egypt. This wind is known as the Khamsin.
It has also been seen that the climate of Lebanon is dependent on the elevation. The higher the elevation, the colder the climate. Also, the amount of rainfall and snowfall increases with the elevation.
Most of the Lebanese living in the hot regions of country tend to escape from the heat by holidaying in the mountains. However, the Khamsin is felt even in these areas.
