Who Is The Governor Of Alabama ?
Alabama is a state in the US. It is the thirtieth largest state stretching over an area of 52,423 square miles. It forms the second largest inland system in the US. The state is governed by the present governor Bob Riley. He is the 52nd and current governor of the state of Alabama. |
Bob Riley was born in rural Clay County town of Ashland. After graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in Business Administration, he went back to his hometown. He made sure that the government functions got a bit more transparent by placing the pending fight logs and contracts into mind, so that the citizens could get enough information at any given point of time from the administration.
The very first governor of Alabama was named William Wyatt Bibb. The other governors who have held the office for more than two terms have been Fob James and George Wallace. The other governors who held the position for two years have been Bibb Graves, Forrest H and James E Folsom.
The present governor Bob Riley took the position on January 2003 and would discontinue it on January 17, 2010. Lurleen Wallace has been the first and the only woman governor to have held the position. Presently Bob Riley is serving his second term as Alabama’s chief executive.
During his tenure Alabama has won major economic developments in more than 15000 new jobs and witnessed a growth in per capita income and the poverty level decreased in spite of recession. He is the first Alabama governor to sign an income tax cut into law in the past seventy years. In the year 2006, the people of Alabama overwhelmingly endorsed his work and appreciated his effort for the second term. He was elected once again after gaining a 58 percent through the voting system and made him the third governor to enjoy re-election in the current scenario.
