Natural Resources Of Alaska
For any state to be well sufficient it needs to have everything right from forests, oceans to natural resources. You might be aware that Alaska is the largest state in the US. Alaska is one state that truly should be proud of its natural resources. The most important and popular resources found in Alaska are fish, fur and gold. These 3 resources are found in abundance, but in recent times Alaska has been looking for other resources, namely petroleum and oil. |
Alaska is known for 2 kinds of forests. One being the interior and the other being coastal. The former, namely interior forests, is found around the river valleys over the eastern parts and also in an around Brooks Range.
On the other hand, coastal forests are spread all over the Gulf of Alaska as well as Kodiak Island. Coastal forests are typically dense in nature and constitute of cedar and spruce plantations. The tundra region is rich in vegetation and most of it provides berries, grasses, lichens, and mosses. However, due to low temperature inside, the plants that die are generally piled upon each other giving very little scope for the new plants to emerge. You will come across vast and extensive lands for grazing.
The next in resources include the variety of marine resources. The animals include polar bear, mountain goats, moose, and deer. The further you go you would come across grizzly bears. Polar bears are located towards the north of tundra region and the most important food for the Eskimos. The other rare animals that you would notice here are the reindeer, bison and musk oxen. The animals are the best part of this place. A complete mix of flora and fauna can be felt here. Birds include geese, grouse and ducks. The salmon is considered as the state fish.
Minerals like gold and silver are found in each and every region in this state. Other minerals like copper, mercury and platinum are too prevalent.
