What Is Alaskas State Flower ?

Alaska is the 49th US state and the largest in the size in the union. It is well known for its scenic beauty and panoramic landscapes. It is home to a wide variety of unique flora and fauna, which is showcased in front of the entire world at the time of annual festivals and events organized in the state. King Salmon, Ptarmigan, Gold, Jade, Dragonfly, Wolly Mammoth, Moose, Sitka Spruce, and dog mushing are considered as the Alaska’s fish, bird, mineral, gem, insect, fossil, mammal, tree and sport respectively. Alaska adopted forget-me-not as their state flower in 1917.


Coming back to the state flower, Forget-me-not grows openly in rocky places over the mountains. The color of this flower is blue and is very fascinating. This gorgeous looking flower has a long stem and has flowers flown out at top. It is 6-15 inches tall. Their stems are quite broad and large. The petals of the flower are symmetrical in shape and have tinges of light blue with a mix of grass and stiff hairs. They look the most beautiful when they are fully blown.

You can locate them normally in Alpine and Sub-alpine regions and near the rivers. They also grow near drainage waters sometimes. They normally bloom in the month of May and are found till July and sometimes till August. This flower is the best part of Alaska and to see the growth of this flower is most exciting and engaging. The best part would be you going to Alaska and feeling the beauty of this flower and the experience would be certainly different.
