Minnesota is an important state situated in Midwestern United States. It figures as the twelfth of the largest states of America and has a rich and cultural history behind it. The ancient European travelers settled in this place as early as the sixteenth century and sowed the seed of the established state we know it as today.


The state of Minnesota is well-known for its distinguished geographical location with the Mississippi river and the Great Lakes within its reach. But there are more to this state with all the established business and commercial hubs that have sprouted all over the place and contribute adequately to the country’s economy. The most important commercial cities of Minnesota are Minneapolis, which is also the state’s largest city and Saint Paul, which is the capital of the state. These cities are together called the “Twin Cities” and form the most important metropolitan area of the state. These places are important for their transportation industry, their literacy rate and also for the rich arts community. Other major cities of Minnesota are Duluth, Bloomington and Rochester.

Duluth, along with Superior, Wisconsin form the metropolitan area and the Duluth-Superior Harbor forms the largest inland port in the entire world. Rochester city, also known as Med City because of the location of Mayo Clinic, is the third largest city of Minnesota. Bloomington is ranked fifth among the largest cities of Minnesota and is located about 10 miles away from Minneapolis. This city is home to the headquarters of a number of big companies like Toro, Health Partners, Donald Company Inc. and Ceridian.

All of the above mentioned cities of Minnesota are very important part of the United States’ economy.
