Texas has been the home of several famous personalities. Situated in south-central U.S., Texas is the largest US state in area and the second largest in population. It is best known worldwide for its rich culture and heritage, scenic landscape, dude-ranches, and cowboys.


Although many famous people belong to Texas, some of the most renowned ones among them include Don Henley, Janis Joplin, Usher, Beyonce Knowles, Stevie R. Vaughan, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Renee Zellweger, Matthew McConaughey, Steve Austin, Lance Armstrong, George Foreman, Tom Landry, Michael Dell, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Dwight Eisenhower, to name a few.

Don Henley, the highly acclaimed vocalist and drummer of the Eagles band fame, is a native of Linden, Texas. Beyonce Knowles, the famous solo singer from Houston’s Destiny’s Child Band, was born here in the year 1981. Similarly, Janis Joplin, native of Port Arthur, was among the few popular lady rock singers of the 1960s. Usher Raymond, the renowned R&B singer, and Steve Vaughan, the popular rock singer, guitarist, and songwriter, were born in Dallas in the 1970s. Yet another Texan celebrity is Owen Wilson, who became famous after “Wedding Crashers” and “Marley & Me” shows. She also belongs to Dallas, Texas. Besides, Luke Wilson of the ‘Charlie’s Angels’ fame is also a Dallas native.

Renee Zellweger, who gave numerous hits like the ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’ took birth in Houston in the year 1969. Actor Matthew McConaughey, wrestler Steve Austin, and heavyweight boxer George Foreman were born in the Texan cities of Uvalde, Austin, and Marshall respectively. Michael Dell, CEO and founder, Dell Computers, belong to Houston, while the 7-time winner of Tour-de-France, Lance Armstrong, is a native of Plano.

All these are just a few celebrities that belong to the state of Texas. The list is endless and contains names of many popular sportspersons, businessmen, entertainers, criminals, and US presidents.
