Quito is the capital of Ecuador. It is the second highest capital city in South America at an elevation of 9,400 feet above sea level. It is located in a narrow valley that is situated at the foothills of Mount Pichincha and the Andes Mountain. The city has spring-like climate right through the year. Usually the temperatures range in 70 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, and 40 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit during the evenings. If the sun is shining brightly, the daytime temperature can rise to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Quito is a World Heritage Trust site, and is like a huge outdoor museum with beautiful colonial architectures and symbols preserved like new. In addition, there are magnificent churches and museums that are worth visiting. No vehicles are allowed into the old part of Quito on Sundays, but shops and restaurants are always open.

The next city of Ecuador is Guayaquil, which is the country's commercial and industrial hub. It is also the country's largest city. It is a port city where temperatures range from 75 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The main attraction is the city is the 2.5 mile walkway along the Guayas River. This walkway is dotted with gardens, restaurants and fountains. Also along the walkway is the Museum of Anthropology and Contemporary Art.

The third largest city of Ecuador is Cuenca. This city has a spring-like climate right through the year because of its location. The city has a quaint charm to it because of its colonial past. It is considered to be the most cultured city in the country, and has contributed quite a bit to the literature and arts of Ecuador. The city is a major hub for crafts like weaving, ceramics, jewelry, and leather goods. This is the city where the famous Panama hat actually originated.
