The capital city of Paraguay, Asuncion, has the unique distinction of being one of the oldest cities in South America. It was founded in 1537 by the first Spanish settlers who came to this region. There are many buildings across the city that convey the history and culture of Paraguay. For instance, Pantheon Nacional de los Heroes is a tribute to the natural heroes of the country. Their remains are interred here.
One of the most interesting places in Paraguay is Chaco. This where you can get a glimpse of the wildlife that are not present anywhere else in the world other than the Amazon. You will be able to see foxes, big cats, wild boar, deer, alligators and tagua.
Another interesting place to visit in Paraguay is the town of Encarnacion. It is renowned for its natural beauty across the country. You will see lush meadows, rolling hills and bubbling springs. The Parana River cuts through the town, and you can go fishing and hiking. Also, just before the town is the Jesus y Trinidad, which is Jesuit mission, and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.
