Mexico Travel Visa Requirement
Mexico travel visa requirement is of several kinds and there are many exceptions that are followed too. Mexico is a Spanish speaking country that shares its borders with the United States. Mexico has many business and travel destinations and tourists visiting the country are a common occurrence. |
When it comes to visiting the country and the visa requirements, all Americans who travel to Mexico through air are required to carry a passport. However, citizens of the United States along with the United Kingdom do not require a visa to visit Mexico. You can find the list of countries that do not require visas for entry on the Mexican embassy website.
People in the United States need to carry any one of the following documents in order to enter the country.
- A birth certificate
- Certificate of Naturalization
- Voter Registration Card
These are sufficient ID proof for the Mexican government for visitors from the United States. However, in order to gain entry back into the United States from Mexico, you will need a passport and these documents -- birth certificate, certificate of naturalization and voter registration card -- do not hold good.
If the above documents do not include a photograph, then it is important that the visitor carries some other form of government issued ID that has a recent photograph. Driver’s license is also considered valid form of ID in Mexico. If traveling by air, you would be required to fill out a business visit or tourist information form at the airport and then you will be given an entry pass on the spot that you can keep while traveling in Mexico.
